How interesting. I've been on interviews where the current / leaving nanny or maternity nurse has been in on the interview. I always find it very telling about the family. Usually if the current nanny and I are on the same page it works well with the family.

Not PP but what are Childhood Studies? I have never heard of such a major. I got my BA in Early Childhood Development and have know others to get degrees in Early Childhood Education but never Childhood Studies! Where did you go to school?

Difference being we are all adults and should be able to be civil when giving opinions.

I'm not going to be like others and say that you are immature OP, but yes it was your responsibility to be on time to the interview. It happens, oh well, but be sure to leave early if needed in case of road construction, accidents, etc. also, I've been in your position of being interviewed by multiple people at once, at a day care. One lady was pregnant, and she grilled the hell out of me, and whenever I didn't answer a question to her standards she would give me this look as if to say "I will NOT hire you." I understand the pressure, but I think it's best to email the family, and let them know that you would be looking elsewhere, because they clearly don't know how to interview a potential nanny, which makes me believe they don't know what's best for their child. Sounds like the family and that nanny had a fantastic relationship, that the nanny did an excellent job of interviewing, and that you are bitter because you were exposed as late, unprepared, and unprofessional.

Sounds like a great family to work for, and a nanny (their current one) who is equally great.

Mb here (and former nanny). May I suggest an attitude revamp? If you want to get hired by a good nanny family, you need to do an overhaul. You come off as very immature and inexperienced

I was a law clerk for the kindest, most generous judge on the planet. I truly loved this man and owed him my career. When it was time for me to accept a position at a law firm, I interviewed my replacement and you have never seen a tougher, more brutal interviewer than I!!! I loved this man and wanted the very best for him.

I respect the parents for having their former nanny, who knows the job like no other person, involved in the interview process. You silly children who think the OP is right in her whining or that there is something wrong with the employers for asking the nanny to be there are simply little fools.

Welcome to the real world, Girls. You will often be interviewed by the person who held your position before you in any field.

I'm a nanny that has interviewed my replacement and really enjoyed being part of the process and don't feel it reflected negatively on my bosses. It's just one part of the equation. I didn't do the only interviewing.

The job is to pick up a little guy at school and you were late to the interview. Yeah, I would NEVER hire you, OP. You could not get to the interview on time so I would have no faith that you would get to my child's school on time.

As for the "bitch nanny", she was clearly asked by the parents to be there and they allowed, if not asked, her to interview you. I am totally "bitch nanny's team", OP. You were and continue to be wrong.

Sounds like it threw you to be interviewed by a nanny instead of a parent but that hardly makes her a bitch. And the correct response to someone pointing out that being late to a job interview doesn't reflect well on you is to apologize profusely. Not get an attitude.
