Some do, and some don't. The key with a parting gift is to show your appreciation to the person who has cared for your children for 5 years. If you normally give 1 weeks pay as a bonus, give 2 weeks for parting, and a heartfelt Thank You. Sure more money is always nice, but if you can't afford it there is no reason you should feel bad about it.
