Our nanny drives and uses her car.
She absolutely takes both kids to the playground, library, play dates, grocery store, preschool drops/pickups for the 3 yo, etc.

Not a big deal, basic role for a nanny of two pre-k kids.
That said if you sense your nanny is more of a one-kid only type nanny, get out now.

I'm a nanny and I take both children out. I never even thought to say "no." It's part of the job. My charges are 3 years old and 9months. Yes it sucks sometimes but really once you get it down it's easy.

This is hilarious. We've got people here saying that this job is only possible for a rock star nanny. On other threads, we have nannies who claim they shouldn't receive a lower rate for bringing their new baby because it won't impact their ability to care for their nanny charge.

Two children are not hard to manage. even if she has never done it before, she'll figure it out like every SAHM ever. Some activities will allow the baby to tag along; others will not. There will have to be some flexibility. But she should be able to get out of the house 2x/day with both most days.

Metro, Nanny car, or just walking?

Well if you have a paid activity for the toddler, they will charge for the baby too. I'd expect $20/activity per kid. It adds up quickly.
Personally, that's the easiest time to take both out. Once the baby starts walking it will be much harder. I do think most nannies here can handle taking both out.
I have 5 and 2 yeR olds. It is literally impossible to have eyes on both of them all the time at certain parks.

From what I understand of the area (Twinbrook metro), it is pretty busy and more commercial. I'm guessing there will be at least a park they can go to.

Best to check. There might be nothing to walk to.

There are plenty of great residential areas in the Twinbrook section, lots of parks, wonderful bike trails, a metro stop, etc... Depending where they are there might also be a grocery store, restaurants, ice cream place, etc...

Exactly... "depending on where" they'll be.

Let me guess, you work at home? She's leaving all day every day to escape. FYI.

Nope, I work out of the house. But we have nice weather pretty much year round (California) and fresh air is good for you.

Getting out of the house daily is different than being expected to go to pre-set activities at pre-set times and places every single day. That is much more difficult when you have 2 kids on different schedules.

Still do-able. You just have to leave extra time for slowpokes and blowouts and tantrums.

Oh dear god. Two children? The horrors! By the time she moves, the baby will be a little older. Within a few months, they'll even be on the same nap schedule.

OP, hire a nanny with experience with more than one child. This is no problem at all unless you want the baby to nap in her crib all the time. Then it may call for some flexibility until the naps are the same.

Of course babies should nap in their bed.

It's not unreasonable generally. Consider nap schedules, though, as well as what other duties you are asking the nanny to do. If you expect her to do a bunch of kid-related cleaning, and the baby is napping two or three times a day, and the toddler has scheduled activities, and you want them to hit the park in the afternoon...something might have to give.
