One of my MBs once told me that while graciously giving a reference for a new agency, one of the questions the agency asked her was if I ever wore shorts to work. Since then, it's been pants every day for me. I think every professional should do the same.
Lol....
I want a nanny willing to play with my kids and be active, not dress like a prude.

I didn't even dress like that as a teenager. Either you have respect for yourself and others or you don't. Clearly, most of the nannies responding here don't. Mid thigh shorts are easy to come by and look a lot better. I would mention it to her. Offer to buy a couple of pair. She's not just representing herself, she's representing your family and wherever you're from as well.

In any case, here is what I would do. I'd wait for a moment when it makes sense (she's picking something up off the floor, bending over to play w/ a kid, etc...) and say "Whoa - Jenny, I'm getting to know more of you than I need to w/ those shorts! Maybe those could be retired from workday duty?"
Hopefully that's all it will take.

"I'm an adult, don't tell me how to dress." (and probably "Find yourself a new nanny after vacation!").
That's win-win for the employer, because then you would not be dressed like a whore in their house, and they would not have to pay you unemployment.
