I gave the nanny our wifi code, but since shes only here on days we are not I set up some rules on the router to block certain sites and such but most importantly the wifi only work for 1 hour right in the middle of nap. I didn't want the nanny rushing our son to sleep or letting him oversleep because she was playing on the phone, so I set it to kick on 30 minutes after nap usually starts and runs for 1 hour, which is about 30 minutes before he generally wakes up since he is napping for 2 hours.
That is a win win, maybe you can bring it up.

They might be worried that you'll not only listen to music, but start browsing the internet from your phone. And maybe just during naps at first, but who's to stop you from looking at your phone while he's awake? I know a lot of parents are okay with nannies surfing the web during naps, but it depends on their trust level. In general, I wouldn't mind a nanny listening to music during my kid's naps, but our current nanny sometimes takes a while to hear her wake up (hearing problems??) and I really don't want to make this any worse. That's a special case, though.
Were you off of work before 2pm today? Oh wait....it's ok for you to be online at work but not your nanny, got it. I always forget about that pesky double standard.

I would never work for a family that didn't have respect for me and an understanding of how life works for all adults.
How life works for ACTUAL adults is that we don't expect everyone's WiFi to be available to us. Use data on your phone for your occasional email or task. You only need WiFi if you're on your phone too much.

Anyway I currently care for a 2 1/2 yr. old who naps during my 10HR. shift for usually two hours.
I am not required to perform any household duties during my down time, I usually eat my lunch, pick up/organize toys, books & puzzles plus wash any dishes used or sweep up the kitchen floor.
My new phone has a Spotify app which allows me to listen to music during nap time. I always am near the baby monitor and make sure my music is at a volume where I can hear the volume of the monitor. Also I NEVER use earbuds while listening to my songs.
Anyway my daughter told me that listening to my Spotify uses up data from my phone plan & that it would be better if I used the family's WiFi instead.
So I asked my bosses if that would be okay and they told me they would look up the password and get back to me. When I remind them again, they say they will "get on it," then quickly change the subject.
What is the big deal.....??!

Well that was a dumb decision.
Why? How many people do you think have guessed our PW?
