Its sad you are ashe ed about your job Im not Im proud Im having a positive impact in a childs life, I am a Great Nanny I love the children, I encourage learning and morals and manners and self esteem and respect for others so if you think about it this is the great est job in the world , think about it when Mom and Dad are at Work your child is with a loving inteligent person who respects your child, who teaches your child about so many things, who feeds your child and respect his routine to make sure he gets sleep, and also outsider time and plays with your child and teaches him how beautiful life is, a human being the first years of his life learns about trust and attachment . So look for a new job is not fair for a child to have a Nanny ashamed of what she does.

I feel you OP. I am ashamed of my job as well. I love my charges, I'm well paid but I don't tell what I do. I have my own 6 year old daughter and I started nannying because I was able to take her to work .... and I still bring her after school and gov holidays, school closings etc. I am thankful for being able to actually raise my child and don't have child care cost but oh boy I just don't like it anymore.

I am never ashamed. I am actually extremely proud. I am educated and work hard. I make a difference in the lives of children and their parents. I feel privileged that people trust me with the lives of their children.

I'm an MB and this is so silly. Nannying is a wonderful profession, and at its core, not so different than working in education at any other level. From parents to university professors, all GOOD educators want the best for their children/charges/students and work to see them succeed. Those are very noble and important parts of the calling. Society rests on good educators, including good parents, nannies, ECD professionals, and all the way up to professors. You should take pride in the job if you also enjoy it.

If you don't like it, then please quit, since not being in the profession for the right reasons can do untold harm to young kids whose brains are just developing and whose entire lives will be profoundly influenced by your presence in the early years.

Not embarrassed at all, no. Silly to be in my opinion.

I agree 100%. I have a masters in ECD and being a nanny is so much better and rewarding than teaching in a preschool. If you feel embarrassed this is not the right field for you, OP.
