Yes, but there is no evidence that either of the activities you observed on her FB page have or would affect the health of your child, if done on one's personal time.

If you are in DC, both those activities (as well as clubbing) are legal things to do while off the clock.

You apparently have no evidence, none at all, that she engaged in any of these activities while caring for your child. For that reason, you should MYOB and only discuss her job performance and leave your judgments about what she does in her off time at the door.

Don't sweat it. If you never smelled cigarette smoke on her she was not smoking when she was working for you. That is a stench that is impossible to hide on a day-in and day-out basis.

This. And all working people need to remember what can be seen on social media by their future and current bosses. This nanny is one dumb bunny for advertising her partying and smoking (cigs and pot).

Perhaps your nanny told you she was a non-smoker because she didn't do it on the job at all. Just because you now see Facebook photos of her smoking does not mean that she smoked around your child. If that were the case, wouldn't she as well as your child have smelled like smoke at the end of her day??

Do you think she possibly could have enjoyed a cigarette while on the job? Looking back, were there any signs of it? If so, then let her know you cannot be a good reference for her anymore.

Maybe she just started smoking due to the stress of caring for her aging parent.

If you know she smokes pot, then perhaps she only does it on her own but wouldn't do it while on the job or come into work stoned.

In my opinion, she doesn't seem fit to be a good nanny at this time.

If she moved to care for an aging parent anyway....Why does she need you as a nanny reference?
