Most parents prefer the nanny to come in unless she's really, really sick. Don't you go to work with a mild cold?

I would only worry about a cold with a baby under 3 months, when any fever means a hospital visit. Older infants will get colds. They just will.

Mom of 4 here. Baby colds are awful, and make you feel awful because you can't do much about them. But you also aren't going to be able to prevent them.

I have lost my voice many times without having a cold or flu. I believe your nanny.

She could have been telling you the truth OP.

Reason being, is that on a few occasions I have either had a hoarse voice OR completely lost my voice for no reason at all. I didn't have a cold or flu, I guess sometimes my throat dries out w/weather changes and/or too much talking.

So don't rule that out automatically.

I personally don't know how a person can technically "hide" a cold from another person w/meds. Even when I take OTC medication for a cold, I still will sniffle/sneeze/cough at times.

However if it makes you feel better, then you can always ask the nanny directly. Just try to be as tactful and non-accusing as possible.

Good luck.

Huh? Clearly English is not your first language. OPs nanny WAS NOT sick.

OP your baby is likely to get sick from time to time. It's just a part of life. If you like and trust your nanny I would take her word for it.
