It wouldn't bother me at all.

I'm a nanny and I don't think so! I gave my parents permission to text me whenever but that's just the relationship we have! So if they text me at midnight saying thanks for the awesomeness of the day then it's just as cool as if they say it at 12:00! Love my family so we can do that!

When I plan to tell her face to face I sometimes forget, I leave earlier and get home later than my husband so don't sometimes see her for days!

Why not put it on a post it? Or a nice little inexpensive card? Something similar...

I find that it starts my day off well when I find notes about good things. Of course, my employer simply puts any notes or concerns in the logbook, so there's no question about what was said or when.

As a nanny, I absolutely LOVE love being appreciated at any hour of any day.

I encourage you to do so as well since it builds good morale as well as offers a good amount of goodwill.

Win win.

A hand written note is ALWAYS appropriate and appreciated.

Um, yeah, actually. Welcome to the real world, where we're all bothered via electronic device all the time.

Not in my office
I have my own business and I respect my employees off time.

Honestly, you can just skip the text and just give me the extra money, that's what I'm working for, not your admiration. Put your money where your mouth is honey!

Seriously, Troll, try to get a little life for yourself and stay off this forum. You are not a nanny and have never hired a nanny.

I would so appreciate an off-hours text or email telling me what a good job I did with my charge. Anytime.
