I know exactly what you mean! I love a clean kitchen (and I like my family not to worry about cleaning when they get home at night) but I kind of lose my allocated kitchen cleaning zeal at work already, so my own kitchen is often a mess. I don't have to do any housekeeping except cooking for the kids/tidying up at work, but same here, after a whole day of mopping spilled things and sweeping the floor after we made cupcakes, I am less thrilled about having to do the same at home.

I know friends who work on computers all day often prefer to have less computer heavy evenings. I think it's just the nature of our job: household tasks aren't the most pleasant and we all lose our patience with them a bit earlier in the day than those who don't have to do them as part of their job.
