PP, it's offense for the same reason we say flight attendant instead of steward/stewardess, or actor for both males and females of that profession. It's why we have one word for doctor, teacher, president, lawyer, manager: it's demeaning to label two people, who perform the same job, differently so as to identify their sex. Stop doing it.

No, you're still an idiot. Who the hell hires someone with no experience or education - male or female - to care for their newborn baby?! Could he read? And calling a male nanny a "manny" is ridiculous and insulting regardless of what he calls himself.

You're an attention-seeker, PP, and always have been. Your posts are always, "Look at me! Look at me!" otherwise you would just write "nanny" and follow with the pronoun "he" when referring to him.

And I am an MB so do not go blaming the nannies for this negative post. I am sick of this MB and always have been. She hires some poor immigrant and acts noble about her "manny" - pisses me off.

Wow, so much anger. He refers to himself as a manny. And after the first time this board came down on me for the term, I asked him about it, and he confirmed he prefers that to nanny. Not sure why you think he's a poor immigrant at all. He's not. And he's got experience with kids, just not as a nanny. He came with great character and employer references, solid work history. Not sure why you think I'm acting "noble" - I'm just happy to have great care for my kids while I'm working. Isn't that the goal of everyone who seeks out childcare?

IT DOESN"T MATTER WHAT HE CALLS HIMSELF. You just admitted that he doesn't speak English well or is educated! "Manny" is pejorative. If a person calls themselves a "ni**er", or a "ki**" or a "bimbo" - you still do not get to call him/her those names!!!!

I am glad your nanny is working out for you but you are an ass for calling him your "manny".

I NEVER said he doesn't speak English well; I'm not sure where you got that from. It seems very small-minded to assume anyone without a formal higher education is un-educated. A college degree is not everything. Just ask Mark Zuckerberg, Billy Joel, Ralph Lauren, etc. We'll have to agree to disagree on the term manny being pejorative.

Same nanny. 7 years. We have out ups and downs but nothing to make us want to split up yet. Most likely will only do so later this year due to youngest needing more preschool time as he starts to prepare for K next year.

My nanny is not educated either, but she has the magic touch when it comes to children. She has been with us for 12 years

I am sure there are many wonderful success stories abound, but it wouldn't make "good DCUM."

Just like if everyone on reality T.V. made nice and got along, no one would be interested in watching because it wouldn't be "good T.V."

See the parallels?

That is exactly right. My nanny's transexuality is the last thing on my mind when I think of him too.

I don't even believe her story. Who hires a man off the street to diaper their infant daughter all day?
