She is paid for every minute she works. If you do not wish to pay her for all of her time then she should not be expected to drive, take Metro (train or bus) as traffic is always unpredictable.

If you are so paranoid about your nanny "padding" her time then you should fire her.

I've been late a couple times coming back from the pool because my charge was throwin a fit about leaving and then we hit traffic. I didn't except to be paid. Life happens.

I am a part-time nanny. Every now and then, I show up 15 or 20 minutes early to work. And every now and then, while driving the kids home from karate, we will stop at the store for a few minutes, which makes us late getting home. I thought it was obvious that the MB should not pay me for my choice to be early or stay late. It never occurred to me that my MB might ponder as to whether she should pay me or not. We have never talked about it though.

I've been late on occasion but have never gotten paid nor expected to be paid for it. It's not something I make a habit out of of. My drive home is 45 mins to an hour so at the end of the day I'm ready to leave at cut off time.

I'm an MB. Honestly, this is the sort of incidental that I budgeted for when getting a nanny. I would just pay her for the extra time so as not to look nitpicky. And I would be glad that they were having so much fun that they lost track of time.

Now if it started to happen frequently, I would have a conversation with your nanny about getting home on time.

You have to report any instance where you suspect a troll. There are too many threads to monitor them all but if you report them Jeff will handle it (or respond.) You can just hit the report button on each posting, or you can go to the website feedback thread and put up a note for Jeff and he'll look into it and respond.
