Anonymous wrote:I encourage my nanny to nap during the day. She takes care of another baby from 6:30-8:30 in the morning, and is with us from 9-6. That is a very long day. And when I go downstairs to get stuff from the kitchen while she's sleeping, I definitely make an effort to be quiet.
That said, I love our nanny, and I don't have any other complaints about her. Sounds like you might be less than thrilled with yours? Often that makes stuff seem annoying even when it wouldn't be annoying otherwise.

If you fall asleep there is no way you can hear a baby who wakes up up but isn't crying yet, and if they are older kids they could easily wake up and walk right out of their rooms without making noise. Kids aren't like 100% constant noise machines. Napping on the job is highly irresponsible and dangerous.

OP, you're weird for being more concerned about the dark kitchen than a nanny who hasn't gotten her work done and for posting here rather than just asking her not to nap. You both deserve each other.
You sound like a lazy nanny.
