If someone mentioned they don't want to be micromanaged I would automatically disregard that candidate - I assume she won't listen, will create drama and wants to yap on the phone all day long.

Yep.

The first question makes them sound entitled. Run!

That first question is a huge, softball, gift of a question. In any field any candidate ought to be prepared to talk about why they think they are the best candidate for a position. If you can't answer that there is a problem.

- Why should we choose you over another candidate? ~ I believe I am the best choice for this position because not only do I love children, but I have a strong work ethic, am very fun-loving, responsible and an excellent communicator with both the parents as well as the child. I also place a high importance on safety and ALWAYS actively engage with any children I care for.

- What type of family or things do you look for in a family? ~ I am looking for a family who treats me with respect, one who won't try to take advantage of me in certain ways. I.e., adding non-child related chores to my duties, not paying me when I am supposed to be paid and one who will call or text me if they will be late coming home. Just basic common sense stuff.

- What would you describe as your ideal family?
~ My ideal family is one that has much love for each other and is fun to be around and laid back.

I don't ask this, I ask what they see as the pros and cons of having a nanny.

More or less this. I ask what they hope to find in a nanny and what they're worried about in employing one.

No, 7 kids isn't a lot when it's just nannying and all are 3+. Now when you add other duties, extend hours and have any kids under 3, it's a constant juggling act, but I love it.
