I make healthy brownies (fats are healthy, sugar content comes from dried fruit), and my MB asked for the recipe. If I saw brownies on the counter, I would assume they were from my recipe and that they were safe for kids and I to eat.

OP again, I know it is ridiculous, but it happened. I had a discussion with MB today and she blames DB for the whole thing. She is obviously very apologetic and embarrassed. I was upset yesterday when I was ill, but now this is something we can laugh over in the future.

And to the nannies who don't give children brownies on occasion...what is wrong with you? Control freaks much? Everything in moderation.

PP here. I forgot to mention that as a MB, I wouldn't even leave REGULAR brownies on the table in site of everyone! My DS would be obsessed with them, and I would definitely have to tell the nanny specifically whether it was okay and how many he could have -- because he would be asking about them from morning to night every day until they were out of the house.

Because it is such a huge oversight and liability. If MB had made pot brownies, and had kids old enough to eat brownies in the house, she never would have left them out on the kitchen counter, unmarked. She would have either hidden them (in a closet or freezer or something), or she would have at least labeled them "for a special party--don't eat!" etc. Her kids could've eaten them. Nanny could've chosen to call the cops. Etc. I don't believe this for a second.


+1 I know people do dumb things, but this situation seems a little ridiculous. Very few parents are going to bake pot brownies and then just leave them out and have a nanny over to their house, and kids over the age of about 12 months are likely to notice a chocolate treat on the table and want it.

Leaving drug-laced brownies out so kids can eat them is something CPS would not ignore.

OP here, I am still upset but have calmed down since yesterday. I realize it was just a mistake that will never happen again. I'm just glad the kids didn't get a hold of them!
