Subject: Nanny Doesn't Know What To Do
I reckon theres a good chance jane is lying to you about the parents having jane back in oct.
It sounds like she feels you stole her job from her. Now she has come back to a role which she sees as less than the one she had and still sees it as you have her job. I think she is trying to sabotage your job-either so your employers do in fact let you go or that you feel insecure and quit.
I would ignore what janes said(it doesn't sound like she has acted like your friend since her return so theres no way she has told you this news with the best of intentions, even if it is true) and work your socks off.

Where do you live OP? Just wondering because while $33/hr is great in some areas, it's normal where I work for Newborn Care Specialist/Baby Nurses to make $25-35 an hour.
I've been in your situation with a coworker who was let go and then came back, so I know how uncomfortable that it can be. Honestly if it was me I would be dusting off my resume and looking for a new job. That way you will not be blindsided if what Jane says is true. That being said, I am not sure that Jane told you the truth. Seems very odd that an employer would tell someone else that they will be letting someone go 6 months from now!
Have you thought of just doing baby work? A couple of my friends have transitioned from nannying to Newborn Care Specialist work and really enjoy the variety that it brings and as I stated above make good money doing it as well.

OP here. My partner stays home with my children full time. My point isn't really to throw Jane under the bus, my point is to figure out where I stand with my position. If they are planning to replace me with Jane, then I have the right to know that.
Then you need to ask them directly. Say you've been told by Jane that they are looking for a new nanny to replace you. Tell them if that is their choice, you'll respect it and try to make the transition as easy on the children as possible but this is your livelihood and need to know to look for another job. Regardless of what they say, find a new job.
