Is this real? I literally can't imagine a family living like this.

Anyway, I totally agree that the housekeepers should be doing it, and the MB and DB need to enforce this. Each nanny needs to take care of her own things and tidy up (i.e. make the bed, whatever), but the housekeepers should be doing the "deep cleaning" like washing and changing sheets, vacuuming, cleaning the bathroom, etc.

It sounds like a very formal home. The multiple housekeepers and nannies in a "small" apartment is common place in NYC.

It makes no sense for the nannies to be cleaning up their shared room. Perhaps just straightening it up.

I doubt the teachers mop the floors and clean their shared bathroom in the teachers lounge.

I doubt the doctors clean the bathrooms and change the bed sheets in their on call room where they sleep.

If these nannies are not in charge of housekeeping, why are they cleaning their nanny room and bathroom? It's part of their office.

I was just thinking this same thing. It reminds me of the call room when I was a resident. I shared it with 3 other people. Housekeeping cleaned it, change the sheets, etc.

I work in a similar situation, and the housekeeper cleans the space everyday.

I view my work house as an office, and the housekeeper is the office janitor.

The housekeeper cleans DB's assistants office in the home, and the kitchen after the the chef leaves- why wouldn't they clean after the nanny?

NP house manager

When you add in crazy things like washing the windows every other day and sweeping/mopping/shining hardwood floors everyday, housekeeping adds up, even in a house with only 2000 sq ft.

Daytime nanny doesn't need a "bedroom," so it's really the night time and weekend nanny who need to work this out with the bosses.

It's obviously a made up story. It doesn't take two people 24 hours a day to keep such a tiny house clean, especially when you take out the 500sf nanny area that apparently isn't cleaned by the maids. I grew up in a 6200+ sq. ft. house with no maids that my parents were able to keep clean even though they worked full time, so I find this whole story ridiculous.

I worked in a not huge house- about 4500 square feet with 4 nannies (2 on duty at a time), a chef, 1 full time housekeeper, 1 part time housekeeper, driver and a house manager. Honestly they could have used 2 full time housekeepers because the one full time one was always so busy. You would be surprised what kinds of things people can ask their staff to do that takes up a lot of time.

Here are a couple examples of things that take a pretty large chunk of time-

Changing the bedding 2-3 times a week on each bed in the house and sometimes more if the mom decided she wanted clean sheets. There were 3 children, 2 nannies on duty at all times and the parents, so you do the math. All bedding then had to be ironed too.

Washing and hanging to dry everything except the children's socks and underwear. Then everything including underwear had to be ironed as well. There were 3 washers and dryers in this house and they were almost always going during the day.

We do tidy after ourselves, wipe down the counters, trip and make the beds. But shmootz builds up when so many people use such a small place. And we all have to clean up this room and bathroom on our own unpaid time.

So yea, it's not possible to employ 2 full time house keepers in a tiny house, plus a nanny and baby. You would all be stepping over everyones toes. Your story is just dumb.

Would you answer this question, OP? I wasn't the pp who asked it, but as a nanny for many years, I can't figure out what two full-time M-F housekeepers do in a 3000 s.f. house all day. There simply is not that much cleaning that needs to be done every day by two people.
