This covers more than simply gasoline costs, it also counts add'l wear & tear on your vehicle as well.
Just keep a mileage log and turn it in to your bosses weekly. You may also get a tax deduction, but am not sure.
Or:
If the parks and zoos, etc. are relatively close-by, you can always simply agree on a weekly flat rate to make it less complicated.
