I just tell my MB I don't want to interrupt their few minutes together so just grab me when she is ready to go. If my charge were older or mom did not want to have to be the bad guy (some parents just can't stand to walk away) then I would stay close enough to catch her eye contact when she needs me to step in and announce that we are off to do x activity. As for what I do, I sit and read a book. I already plan time in my day to do chores so any extra minutes are all mine to put my feet up. I often read my kindle on my phone so it probably looks like texting.

This is relatively an easy post to answer.

If I were you, I would simply ask her directly.

If she wants you to stay, then you can sit by + watch them play together or maybe do something "kid-related" in another room until she is done.

I.e., wipe down highchair, pick up toys, wash up dishes/bottles, etc.

Pp, your constant use of this non-word is like nails on a chalkboard.

Sorry it annoys you. When we hired him we asked what he wanted to be called. Nanny, childcare provider, something else? He said manny was fine. So until/unless he asks to be referred to as something else, that's how I'll refer to him.

OP here and thank you for your comments. Yes, of course I realize I could ask her in every instance, I was just wondering if there was an accepted practice since so many parents are working from home.

MB is extremely polite and will see any question as me stating my desire. And she just works a few minutes from home and stops at home frequently. I don't mind at all that she comes home but I simply don't know what the nanny is supposed to do. But you've give me a few good suggestions, so thank you.
