PP here - Since there was a 5 month gap between when I got the shot and when I came down with the flu that was going around my child's school last month, I'm going to guess that it was because of exposure at the school from people who weren't as conscientious as OP and tried to go about their business as usual while sick rather than taking simple yet reasonable precautions to limit the spread of illness. That and you know, because the shot does not actually cause the flu and does not have live virus in it...
