I think it's awesome that so many people would pay in full and OP offered to. Ive been screwed over so many times I had to enforce a cancellation policy. My time is valuable too. I often turn down jobs so to get cancelled at the last minute is a really kick to the wallet.

Yes, you should have paid her in FULL.

She reserved those hours today for YOU OP and it wasn't her fault that you forgot to call her. I fully understand that it was an honest mistake on your part and all, but that still doesn't give you a free pass to not pay her what she expected to make today.

She should have been fully compensated for the full amount.

If you want to keep her, I would go ahead and offer her the rest.

Oh heck no. I totally run errands without the kids. We get a sitter for it. There is no mother of the year award given out because you have kids running around/board at the Harris Teeter.

Most normal mothers don't stockpile errands for days until they can have someone else come deal with their child. Normal mothers live their lives and manage their families WITH their children.

She said that because she is obviously a nice person. I say things like that too but I would still expect you to pay me. It is okay to make mistakes and she acknowledged that by telling you it was okay. Now pay her or you will be back very soon moaning about lazy babysitters quitting on you.


Clearly, you need to work on your reading comprehension. OP said she would pay in full for the day. Before you engage in insulting snark, try reading the post.

I guess what I don't get is: if you were so tired/out of it, what made you decide to only pay half? It feels to me that I would use more brain power to think/decide to dock her pay than to just pay the full amount and say sorry for my and only my mistake.

I'm glad that you are going to make it right and all is good, just confused at what you got the idea to only pay half...

That's what I would have said as well, however I would REALLY appreciate being paid in full.

She said she was going to pay her the other half and she apologized.
