the flu vaccine is a money making Big Pharma scam that's been so well promoted even doctors have been fooled. The only year I got the flu was the one year I got the vaccine as well!

I have turned down jobs in the past for wanting me to get the flu shot, and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. My gut tells me I shouldn't have that crap in my body, so there's no way I'd do it for you. But to each their own.

I think the trick is you need to spell this out in the advertisement, and then again during the interview. "We will require proof of our nanny being immunized against measles, and whaterver else and to hvae a yearly flu shot."

And this would also be in the contract she signs. That way there is no 'surprise' etc.

I couldn't prove to you or anyone else that I've had all my shots because i don't have that documentation as an adult and my mother has long since thrown away all my old immunization records. But I could go to the doctor and have a titer done to prove that I have immunity to various diseases, which means I'm fine, either by immunization or by having had the disease (chickenpox!).

So just remember that the nanny might need to go to the doc and get blood tests.

I never said most lie. I said I had seen several posts on here where nannies bragged about lying. I'm sure there are other posts, but I don't feel like wasting my time by looking for them in order to prove a point.

I think you should be able to understand that all this thread concerns nannies who do not have any specific problem and still refuse vaccination. obviously nobody would ask a nanny who had a severe reaction to a vaccine to do it again. however, as others have said before, while you are the right, and in your case a good reason, to refuse the vaccine, parents have the right to know it and have plenty right and reason not to hire you. whatever the reason you do not get the vaccine, at the end you are not vaccinated and thus more likely to get sick and expose a child to the illness. If I had an infant, I would certainly never force you to get vaccinated, but I would not hire you because I would like to keep my baby as safe as possible (and this is the reason my DH and I started getting the flu vaccine when I was pregnant with our first child, and have got the vaccine every year since). same for measles vaccine and all others. if you don't get them, you don't work for me, especially if I have a baby too young to get vaccinated
