. Oh please go! If you were my nanny I would not want you to wait 3 weeks! I would want you to go this week. Look for a morning or afternoon appointment but please go. I would have no issue whatsoever with DH or I accommodating this. Your health is important.

I asked MB and she was cool with it. She understands its something I have to get checked out. I was going to schedule a half day but she told me to take the whole day off. His grandma has been asking to see him so she will be watching him. The best part is she gave me a little gift card " just to show appreciation for all that you have done". It was unexpected and nice. She is a real great person and employer!

I would absolutely ask! Almost 7 months with zero used days, I would be shocked if your boss said no.

so tell the parents you need to schedule a dr's appt and ask when it would work for them. wow! what a novel idea!

No. I posted this because I really need to see a gyno and I'm not one to call in. Some employers don't like nannies taking a sick day for things unrelated to actual sickness. My bosses are both lawyers with the best work ethic I've seen yet. They never take a day off! I asked because I did not want to look unprofessional asking for a day off when I'm not actually sick.

I wouldn't offer up personal details, but yes sick days can be used for Dr's appts. If you have to take the whole day, maybe try to fit in your annual with your primary Dr too so it's all done at once. Otherwise, maybe just get the earliest morning appt you can so you can save the other 4-6 hrs for another day when you're actually sick.

I would have no problem with you taking it as a sick day--I am allowed to use my sick leave for medical appointments at my job. Since you're able to schedule it in advance, it would be considerate of you to check to see if there are any particular days where it would be impossible or really inconvenient for your employers (work travel or something like that), and give as much advance notice as possible so they can make the necessary arrangements.

Well, you have only worked for this family about six months or so. You seem to have a good track record thus far so it shouldn't be an issue.

Is the reason you need to see the gyno something that needs to be addressed sooner rather than later? If so, by all means let your employer know that you need to take a personal day off for your health needs.

Of course it's fine. This is why all parents should have back up care.
