I guess perhaps they understand how it is to be in my financial position, perhaps they have even been in my shoes before and have more empathy where a rich person cannot even comprehend how a working class person lives and thinks. Maybe they are so rich that they think to us, a dollar is like a windfall when to them, it is not even a drop in their rainbuckets. Chump change to them....
It may also be that the more modest working families feel guilty that they have people working for them and identify quite closely with those they employ. I know because I am one of those employers. My DS's classmate's mom, from the Philippines who grew up with domestic employees, nickels and dimes them and fires them without blinking an eye.
