I am not pulling " my charge got me sick" card. I have no clue where you got that from. My charge is actually around many kids. We are active in 3 classes a week ( MBs decision). I know 6 weeks is early and it sucks but I can't do anything about catching strep. I'm not a robot.
I know for a fact that MB does not have any backup in place.
I also find it quite funny that you feel you know that my charge isn't around other children. Just because you may be a lazy nanny doesn't mean I am.
A 5 month old has no interest in other children, if you take them to some silly playgroup and set them down in the middle of the floor to get sick then more power to you, you deserve to be fired.
Tell that to my MB. I am taking my charge beause SHE signed her up for classes. That's MBs call so she can fire herself, not me.
If you read Nannydebs posts on what it takes to be a real nanny you will notice that you should be the one imparting your experience and wisdom onto mB and letting her know taking a 5mo to classes is just dumb.

Anonymous wrote:They have no backup? Idiots. I always had three or four backups cause I'm not dumb. A nanny should never take job with a family who has no backup care. That's just asking for trouble.

Anonymous wrote:You would really want a nanny contagious with strep around your 5-month-old? I'm a MB. I know it's not as dangerous as an under-4-month old, but until a baby is at least 6 months and can take more medicines like Advil and has had those 6 month shots, I wouldn't want to risk an uncomfortable and potentially serious illness.
I appreciate nannies working through colds, and with my older kids, I would only want her to take off if she wanted to take a sick day (meaning, I wouldn't tell her to stay home), but this is a borderline serious illness IMO. Not to mention, it's got a limited time for being contagious.
6 months is my "older infant" cut off. I guess other people have a different one.
