This is exactly why as a nanny, I no longer use agencies. Why allow them to undercut my $25/hr rates? They should get wiser. Perhaps they'd attract better nannies, and more parents would be happier to pay their exorbitant fees.

That's pretty accurate, depending on the number of kids. It's a pretty stable market in DC. $15-17/hr for one kid $16-18/hr for two, $18+ for three or more. Obviously. some families will value certain experiences and education and will pay over market, but the market is what it is.

Are these fees about 5-7K?
When we used them (about two years ago now), the placement fee was 15% of the first year's gross annual salary or $2,500.00 minimum.
