For the same reason that daycare workers/teachers aren't substitute mothers. Nannies are caregivers and teachers. Just because a nanny works in the child's home doesn't make a difference (it is just location).

Exactly! My mb and db do this and it causing major issues with behavior and just being able to run the household.


I'm the PP.

If the kids are playing, 3 feet in front of me, how distracted can I honestly be? Like you said, these kids are going to have boundary issues.

I hate seeing nannies or mothers texting when they all should be interacting with their kids or at least watching them. With young children there is always time to text or call when the kids are napping.

Maybe it takes some people more than a second. We're not talking "playing on your phone". We are talking sending only a couple of texts a day.

It takes more than a second to send a text and I find it hard to believe that that you only send one text every now and then.

The fact is, when you are playing on your phone, you are not responsibly watching to be sure kids are safe in the playground.

You are distracted. It's illegal to text and drive in my places. Why? Because you are distracted and that is not safe.

You are being paid to keep your charges safe. Put away your phone.

MB is paying me to watch her kid so yes I'm not in their face but keep an eye on them. I'm not checked out on my phone, I very much enjoy watching kids play at playground


And you can't even look down for a second for one text? I'm not talking glued to my phone but yes I do send a text everynow and then.
