And for the record, I personally cannot stand dishes in the sink either at my work or my home. Just a personal pet-peeve. I'm sure my MB would tell me to put her dishes aside but I can't do it. This is not her fault at all but obviously not an issue when she is at work.
To the foreign nanny - my employers do not have a television and I carry only an inexpensive phone that only the parents have the number to when I'm working. I am also on nanny cam all day/every day so it certainly isn't a matter of feeling checked up on when MB is home.
MB just stated working form home two days a month in October. I would not have accepted this job had I known this was even a possibility. Now I am entrenched in this job and love my charge. I will have a conversation with her about ground rules at some point as the days of her working from home are truly miserable.
Thanks for the responses, Nannies!
I'm glad to hear they have nanny cams because it does sound like you do best when someone is checking up on you. You don't seem to be able to handle small changes very well.

I am looking at a day of constant interruptions and our usual routine going to hell. I will have to keep my charge quiet during MB's business calls (we are in a small house and usually like to sing and dance after nap -- but can't today). MB will leave her breakfast and lunch dishes in the sink so I will have to do them before I can prepare my charges meals and snacks. My charge will cling to me today because every time he sees his mother he will think I am leaving.
Why? When you have a lovely office to go to why do some mother's insist on working from home?!
What the problem?!!i know you like on the phone or tv al the time right??

I suppose you'd be fine with your boss working next to you in your cubicle?
Wouldn't bother you at all?
Imagine you're on a call with a client trying to finalize some plans and they hear your boss in the background. They demand to speak with your boss instead. Wouldn't annoy you in the slightest?

Np
I can't imagine leaving dishes in a sink and just not washing them as a nanny. My job description says no cleaning but I always clean what needs to be done. If a sink is left full of dishes as a nanny I assume it's left for me to clean.
