I took my current job because it was the closest commute. No magic. It has turned out to be a wonderful job with a fantastic little girl but I had no "love at first sight" either.

I didn't care for my MB when I first interviewed with her. I thought she was spoiled and would most likely decided to stay home with the baby and not go back to work so I continued to interview for other jobs after I had accepted her position. So no - no magic there.

Now I do like and respect her a great deal and we have a very good working relationship after two years. But no, it was not love at first sight on my end at all.

I basically "just knew" when our current nanny walked in for her interview. She asked to wash her hands and then sat down at the table with me and was attentive while also making eye contact, smiling, and handing cheerios to my son in his high chair. They seemed to be comfortable around each other immediately, and she was the only nanny out of six that I interviewed that got on the floor with our baby.

That said, I don't think "the feeling" means that you will feel 100% confident and trust someone immediately upon first meeting - that comes with time. It just means that you got a good feeling about the possibility of working with the person and there were no major red flags.
