I sit for sick kids, yes. I don't care about bringing over a cold to my full-time family. All the kids go to a hundred different places every week anyway and would catch that same cold eventually. Plus I quite like the cash.

The question for me is usually how comfortable/prepared I feel to care for a sick kid on a given day. If there's vomiting and the rest, I don't really want to deal with that for a few extra dollars, but if the kid has a simple cold, why not?

Only if the parents will understand that in a week or so, I may be calling in sick with the same exact thing.

It's pretty clear some people really do have better immune systems than others. If you're someone who picks up every bug that comes around, you're better off choosing to work in a career where there's a lot less contact with people in general, much less children!

I'm astonished that it seems some nannies on here don't understand this. they are sick every other week and expect to be nannies and get 49 paid sick days a year.

I'm a nanny who posted saying I do not sit for sick children. I really hope that you all aren't the same nannies who get in a tizzy over caring for your charges when they are sick. The double standard is ridiculous.
