I have an afternoon position similar to yours. However, I don't need car seats because the boy lives two blocks away from the school.
I'm suppose to get him at three.mi usually arrive at his house around 2:30. I set my stuff down, read a little, and then go pick him up. I don't expect to be paid because I'm not doing anything for him or with him.

Since you are performing functions relevant to your job though, you absolutely deserve to be paid.

Not if XYZ is $100.

What?

We pay our after-school nanny the same way. A daily rate. We pay $XYZ a day when she comes over - she gets the children at 2 or 3pm, watches them and finishes chores (does whatever items on the list for the day -start dinner, groceries, laundry, clean something specific, vacuum). Some days we get home at 6, other days we tell her ahead of time we are out until 8 or 9pm dinner. Same flat XYZ amount regardless.

That's illegal and your nanny is an idiot for agreeing to this.
