Where OP said they are late every day?!?! I think it's pretty simple to understand that her bosses are not late 10 min each day, it's different from day to day. She is talking about being LATE Read it again.
And why some of you think that we nannies should be ok with not being paid if we have to stay late at work?!?! Would you, families be ok if we were late to work few times a week?!?!

I have to say that this thread has been enlightening to me as an MB.
It's also been horrifying.
It has helped me understand the perspective of feeling it's appropriate to insist on the $36/hr rate for any overtime at all for the individual family in question.
I have to think though, that if I were one of these employers, that rate would be the greatest incentive possible to avoid any overtime, and a significant reason for me to look for other childcare options.
I find it quite disheartening that families paying at these rates, with this kind of annual salary, can still somehow be in the wrong.

OP you need to address it now. You are working for a certain rate, it doesn't matter if one family is paying it or both, you expect $24 per hour. If one family is late for pickup, they either need to both pay their share of the $36 OT rate or the late family needs to cover it. If you work all day for $24/hr then it totally unfair to stay late and only get $18.... less than your normal rate.

OP,
Get a grip on yourself. You are getting a rate by each family. Each family is paying you overtime, not collectively. So when a family is late, you are getting the rate agreed upon by you and that family individually.

Op is getting full overtime for the single family rate. The single family that is 10 minutes late should not have to pay $36/hour - they are paying their overtime rate already.

You are complaining OP, and you clearly didn't hear what you wanted to hear.
I'm (probably obviously) an MB. If you came to me with this request I would be extremely displeased. Extremely. And I would know that I could replace you almost immediately at the rates we're paying. I also would not pay your rates for babysitting (nor would I need to in this marketplace) so I think you're lucky there also.
You seriously need to get over yourself. In your last post you're whining about working 50 hours every week. That's the job you accepted right? Those are pretty standard hours. Routinely you get some significant overtime beyond that. So you're making $1,320/week as your "guaranteed hours" and then earn up to a few hundred more each week because these parents are diligent about paying for every additional 10 minutes (or more) of extra time. So your base salary is almost $70k annually, before any overtime or babysitting.
Cry me a river. And do your peers a favor and stop whining - you make the profession look bad.
