Hope she keeps it up! I just read a thread on another nanny site where a large group of nannies talked about how they are regularly 5-15 minutes late just because they aren't people who can get places on time. Some of them were annoyed that MB/DB weren't running out the door when they got there, so they didn't see the point to punctuality. I have to hope these were young nannies who will improve. Seems like a basic requirement for the job.

After 7 years, we now have au pairs. Our nanny was never late - she was a rock. Kept me on my toes to reciprocate in kind. Nearly all our APs are as punctual. Our house rules spell out what start time means - dressed with wallet/purse, phone, and, if necessary, the GPS on the main floor. Had to spell out expectation as one AP routinely showed up in jammies. Some folks don't know what ready to work means, so the rules ensure there are no ambiguity.

OP, I am not optimistic that your nanny can pull it together. She may need to lose this job to figure it out.

+1. The whole point of having a live-in is to avoid some of the uncertainty that comes with commuting. This would be a deal-breaker for me.
