I don’t do family laundry anymore.

It’s humiliating and I don’t understand how educated, intelligent, highly capable individuals can’t manage to properly wipe their own ass.

We pay our amazing nanny over $100k/year, because she has a great attitude and does anything she can to make our lives easier, when the kids aren’t home for her to take care of.

(Cluestick. Laundry left in a washer for a few days is not "soaking wet". If this were a true story, you'd know that.)

Actually, genius, a large load of laundry that is left in the wash remains quite wet. I think you're the troll here.

Depends on the washer. Some would be wet and working towards molding, some would be damp and smell like mildew.

do you really have to say manny?

It's the correct term. Why do you have a problem with pp using it?

Your employers sound just like mine. I have been a nanny for 4 years and I have only ever done child related cleaning, laundry, ironing and cooking. I have never been asked to do anything more than this. My current employers leave their plates and pots from the previous night's dinner scattered on the counter next to the sink and they leave their dining table with food all over as well as under the table and they also leave their kitchen counters and stove dirty then expect me to have time to look after their children when they want me to be a housekeeper. They have guests staying for two weeks at present and these guests just eat and leave their dishes for me to wash. There are 4 adults in that house and none of them can manage to wash the dishes or clean the kitchen and dining room for themselves after meals. I find it utterly ridiculous. Last week on my arrival one day, the youngest child who is still in nappies had such a full nappy of wee it was drooping down and yet the female guest who was there with them didn't even bother to change the poor child. I was annoyed that she would just sit there watching her stupid TV shows and wait for me to come and change her.

So far I have been asked to clean the bathroom and iron the parents clothing. I did it on two occasions because I'm new to their family, but 2 times was more than enough. When I told employer I don't do ironing for parents under any circumstance she got upset. Last week both parents were late home 3 times out of 4 days but they didn't even call to inform me or even apologise for being late. Anyway I am writing them a very long letter informing them that I know how to do my job very well and if they doesn't like the fact that I will not clean her bathroom, sweep and mop their entire downstairs, clean her kitchen and dining room they can let me go. I really couldn't care less. I have never worked for employers like them as a nanny or otherwise. She thinks she has a built in housekeeper, but I have never been a housekeeper and have no desire to become one any time ever. They have 2 lovely children who I am perfectly happy to care for, but their parents are terrible employers. As people they are pleasant enough, but hopeless as employers as it's their very first time using child care services because the grandparents who usually care for the kids at this time did not come over on holiday this year so they advertised on child care sites.

Ugh, PP here, and this sounds exactly like my situation. The MB and kids recently went on vacation for a week, and she asked me if I could do some housework since she is having a party next week and wants things to be clean. I figured I could earn a couple of extra bucks before I am back in school in two weeks, so I reluctantly agreed. First she asked me if I could come (unpaid) on my day off so that she could explain to me what needs to he done. I told her no, and that a list would be fine since, you know, I'm not the one who has a disgusting house and apparently doesn't know how to clean. Anyway, one of the items on the list was to clean her personal bathroom. It was disgusting, but I got through the sink and toilet. No way was I doing the shower. It looked like it hadn't been touched in a year or more. I guess I'll have to tell her on Tuesday that I have standards. I made a mistake when I let her know that I occasionally do cleaning gigs on the side for extra cash, and now she just assumes I'm her housekeeper. Oh well, one more week to go!

I don't do laundry EXCEPT kitchen towels and occasionally sheets if my charge has had an accident. MB likes doing laundry and she likes feeling domestic so she does all the laundry.

NP, maybe not soaking wet, but it would be damp and probably mildew-y after a few days.

It is not part of your duties so do not do it.

Simply let them know that you just feel uncomfortable washing any other laundry besides the child's and leave it at that.

Right. They leave two weeks laundry in the dryer for you. Sure.

I totally believe you as this has happened to me as well. Some people are just slobs.

Lol why would I lie about it? I'm here after having a couple of days off, and MB just told me that the load of whites I ran through the wash and didn't get a chance to dry is still soaking wet in the washing machine.

I stopped doing it when I found skid marks on my DB's underwear ... Made me wanna puke.
While I wouldn't have minded doing the rest of the laundry have I had the time, I don't wanna wash the underwear, it's too private.
