So then be honest about what your issue is, and don't act like your kids will die if someone isn't physically looking at them every second of the day. Other more reasonable MB would not give this even a second thought.

OP here- Wow I'm glad I don't work for some of the crazy people on this post, thank you everyone else for being normal!! I talked to my boss and when I asked her if I could shower after exercising she looked at me like I had three heads. She said "Of course!!!".

MB here. PP that is saying that a nanny should either refrain from a shower or bleach a shower afterwards is full of it. Do mothers bleach showers every time baby poops of throws up on them? Or continue thier day without a shower if they feel they need one after a baby went to bed?

I have been employing nannies for many years. Occasionally my nannies took showers in our house due to pooppy blow outs, getting into mud with kids, exercising, or even lack of hot water in their house (during massive power outages). I had even one nanny sometimes getting dressed nicely go go out after work... I can't imagine having any problems with that. They did used kids shower, i totally dod not care. On occasion, I had to clean it before giving next kid a bath, but I'd do it anyway. Who cares? It's a small inconvenience to help women who care for my kids.

Hey, I even had once nanny text me (apologetically) asking if I had any tampons 'cause she forgot hers, and I had to navigate her through closet full of personal care stuff.

If the shit is only on the clothes to the point of being able to be cleaned off, then no need to shower. If there IS a need to shower to get shit off, then the shower DOES need to be bleached. You can't have it both ways.

I had a change of clothes, which I used, but the BM had soaked through my shirt and gone all down my arm and side. I did clean the shower later, I just felt really unhygienic knowing I had fecal matter all over myself. I was worried about tracking it through the house...leaving whatever germs on the dining table or the crib... Sorry to hear that would bother people, I'll apologize Monday.

My old concern would be the noise. You can hear everything and we don't use ours as it is loud. Its also on a different floor and we stayed on the same floor as the baby. I'd prefer you take baby on a long walk or jog (we have a jogger). I would have no issue with the showering as long as you helped clean the bathroom and washed your own towels.

To the nanny who had a concern about baby blowout - I'd be fine with that, and be ok with you washing your clothing asap too.

MB here - agree with the above, though if they have a cleaning service/housekeeper it is less of an issue. Also if you are the only adult in the house I would be concerned that you are not alert to any issues with the child/in the home while showering and getting dressed. This is why so many moms on mat leave/who stay at home look so unkempt, they don't have an opportunity to shower!

+1 my nanny works out during naps (she asked if I minded). She uses body wipes afterwards.

Kids are fine for a few minutes. Take the baby monitor into the bathroom so you can hear.

However, OP.. check with the family first.

PP how do you handle it if your kids wake up and you can't zip right in there to get them?
