I'm a nanny in a similar situation. My family is moving for a job offer and I'm looking for a new position. To me it isn't your job to do things for her. My bosses have offered to post ads but I've declined. A letter of recommendation and a great reference is all I ask for. However, my bosses have referred me to a co-worker and a friend, both looking for a nanny after maternity leave. My bosses have sent them my resume but all further communication will be between potential families and I.

I think you have been more than generous and need to put your foot down. Tell your nanny that she needs to start being more proactive because you have a lot going on. I'm an adult and finding my next position is my responsibility. I wouldn't burden my bosses with the extra stress on top of all they have to get done. Talk to her and let her know you have done as much as you can and she needs to step up.

Most libraries also have weekend hours. Unless this nanny works 24/7 she shouldn't have a problem getting to a library. Also she must have a friend or relative that has a computer or smartphone that she could use. If I didn't have a computer or smartphone I would ask family or friends to use theirs (even offer to pay them a small fee) before I would ask my nf or make them feel guilty and obligated to find me a job

Oh please, this is getting ridiculous. Libraries are open some days until 8 or 9pm. OP is BUSY. She is trying to move houses. You want her to honestly give the nanny time off during a transitional period when she probably needs even MORE help? Ridiculous.

OP - thanks for the feedback. Just to clarify, I haven't been contacting anyone directly for her, other than as a reference when they've called. I have been posting and asking around. A resume is a great idea, as is going to the library. Not sure either is on her radar and I don't have time to help with anything more time intensive right now but I'll mention both. Maybe a friend can help her take it from here. I just learned today that she did get an offer but isn't thrilled about it so she's holding out. I understand because I've been in the position of wanting to wait for something better, but that also tells me that it's not as desperate as maybe it seemed (I've taken less than ideal jobs when I really needed something). Anyway, I think I feel a bit freer now to put it back on her and remove myself from the process. I wanted to make sure we tried to facilitate a smooth transition and I feel like we have.
