They are not paid the same thing nor are they asking in that range. There are college degree people flipping burgers too for minimum wage. Unless your education is used on the job, there is no automatic salary bump for having it.
I disagree - I will definitely pay more for a college graduate regardless of his/her major. It speaks to a higher level of knowledge that is passed on to my children.

A lot of nannies request $17 or more, but I don't know a single family who has started their nanny at more than $16 for one child. However, it is common to bump the rate up by $1 at the one year mark and bump it by another $1-2 when the second child is born, so nannies who start at $15 often end up making $17 or $18 within a year or two of their start date.
