Ask if they are still looking for opportunities to relocate. One family told me during an interview DB had recently applied for a job in their home state near family but did not get it. I had several offers so I declined theirs. It would have always been in the back of my mind that they want to relocate. If your NF has decided to stay, then you should stay on. If they are going to continue looking for employment opportunities elsewhere then hopefully they will be honest and understanding.
