If you have nothing to hide and you want the job I see no problem in giving them a credit report. You already need to give them your social to withhold taxes.
You have no problem with my seeing your credit history either, correct? How else would I know if you'll pay me on time, or if you have money problems?
Sure if you want to pay me to run my credit I would be happy to do that (you have no reason to need my SS#, so I would run the check on myself and show you the results.) If you want me to run a free credit score I can do that but it won't show you much. If you asked me to do that I may not have a problem with it, but since you have no good reason to know it would just tell me you are very petty and I would be unlikely to hire you. So if you ever plan to ask a potential employer for a credit check in response to them wanting one on you, you better be really special and a good value or they will go on to someone less petty.

So you think someone with good credit wouldn't steal?
People with good credit are generally respectful and honorable people. People with bad credit are the ones lacking the moral compass to pay back loans and credit. I would trust someone with a good credit history to honor agreements, provide notice when quitting, be on-time, and yes, not steal. Sure, people can have a great credit history and then be bad people. Anyone anywhere doing anything can be a bad person, but I think a credit check is a good tool to use in this situation along with an in person interview.
As someone who struggled with finances in their early 20s (due to many factors outside of my control) and now has shit credit which I am working to rebuild as a result, f***you.
Your moral compas is seriously flawed.
How are your finances outside of your control? The only reason to have bad credit is because of identity theft, and even then you should get it sorted out within a year.
You are so fucking naive. There are lots of reasons a good and moral person can end up struggling to pay your bills and with bad credit. Have you ever been so broke that you had to choose which bills to pay and which to let go? You ever been a struggling 20 something trying your damnedest to make it through school? Its just not as cut and dry as you make it out to be, and that's why fool's like you have no business with anyone's credit report.
If I was so broke I couldn't pay the bills I would stop incurring more bills. THAT is what seeing your credit report lets me know. If you lose your job you need to cancel your cable, internet, etc. move back in with mom and dad, sell your car, etc. The problem is people don't do that, they just think "meh, oh well, lost my job so I'll just sit here with my iPhone and $100 a month cable and chill until they shut them off"
I'm not talking about choosing not to pay your fucking iPhone bill. I'm talking about you're 20 years old, completely on your own, have an 18 month old little girl, and you're trying to finish your degree. You have to choose light bill or heat? Groceries or heat? Rent or daycare? Your daughter is sick but you can't afford the time off to go to the doctor, let alone the fucking doctor bill. You haven't got the slightest clue what struggling is really like, so why don't you shut your goddamn mouth. As you live and fucking breath, you incur bills and sometimes you fall behind. Go fuck yourself.

All my references think I'm pretty special, thank you, but I'd never claim to be a bargain nanny. No way. My price reflects the quality of my work. My it's similar for you. Am happy to consent to MUTUAL background checks.
