She is overly cautious, which is definitely a red flag. She questioned this issue aggressively enough that OPs references were concerned enough to warn her. Just because some of you are equally crazy, doesn't mean it isn't a red flag. It is something OP should be aware of as a potential issue and future reference killer, and should make her proceed with caution. Its the definition of a red flag, and like it or not, MBs can give them off too. Nannies should be just as discerning and picky about choosing their potential new employer who is a perfect stranger to them, but will hold their job history and future employment in their hands.
