Used to be totally common before formula got invented and pushed on ppl. Wet nurses, friends, sisters, whoever was around to feed the baby did so.

It's not a sexy thing, you know. It's just milk.

So?

It's normal to do milk shares, and nurse others babies. Especially family members. I'm sure her sister/sil knows, the guilty look may be because others may see it as strange.

Gross.

How is this gross? In many areas of the world shared breast feeding is common practice and quite a necessity. Even in the US we have milk banks. It's perfectly healthy and normal. Grow up.

Its also a huge boost to the infant's immune system. The mom passes on antibodies through her milk. If a child is nursing from multiple women, that's just more antibodies. I think you should do some research on breast feeding and its benefits OP, and otherwise mind your own business. This child is not being harmed nor is it gross. Its nourishment.

If both Moms know, it's not a problem. However, I would DEFINITELY tell the Mom - if she DOESN'T know, then you have to notify her. If she knows she will just say "Oh yes, that's fine. Thank you for caring."
