Ask yourself if you carry basic insurance who pays to fix your car.
Who pays your deductible in case of repairs from an accident claim.
How will you purchase another vehicle if your circumstances Isn't great at the moment.
Would employers go after your insurance if kids get hurt
If the insurance is in your husband name should he be liable also.
Most of us nannies use our cars to drive to and from work Monday to Friday's. We work sometimes 10 plus hrs. Those are 10 hrs a day your car is relatively safe. Now factor in driving kids all over the place through local roads. Kids sometimes are very distracting. Road conditions during the day are more hazardous..estimate your likelihood of increasing your chances of an accident using your car during those 10 hrs.
Also you can learn to drive any nanny car just like you learned to drive yours.
All I am saying is think about it. It does not benefit you to drive your car but it benefits your employer a heck of alot.
I never said they have to make your car payments or insurance..but they should at least contribute...not just for irs mileage.
I think the irs mileage is good for people using their vehicle to transport or go around looking at jobs.
But it is not good for the kind of wear and tear of 2 or 3 children or the kind of liability involve if they get hurt..
So if I can make 1 nanny pause and think this was worth it.
If I made the OP think and she thought about contributing a little to nanny insurance..
Then that would be great

It usually takes something happening to wise up all those nannies who volunteer their cars, which mind you is probably one of the biggest assets..tell me how depreciating their asset is in their best interest for gas money and for the Nanny who wrote about all the things she has done to ensure safety..my question is why?
If it was the employer car they would have to make sure the car is safe with sufficient coverage, seats are up to standards and installed properly..
You employers even convince yourselves that you are doing a favor by paying irs rates...
Please excuse me for calling you out on that...
I posted the five reasons ...I see not one of you commented on why it is in nannies best interest to drive a nanny car..
So excuse me if I don't allow you to use me.

Insurance $80
You mb's just want to pay for gas and mileage..
Come on you people know you are taking advantage of the poor nannies who want the job that they will do this
How about apart from mileage you contribute extra...towards her insurance..You should pay at least half.
Now to your husband driving clients...It's not the same having kids destroy your upholstery. Nor does nanny make his salary.
Anonymous wrote:You misunderstood or I did not clarify clearly..
Car payment + insurance + gas
Is what employers would pay should they provide a nanny car compare to gas mileage using the Nanny own vehicle
Anonymous wrote:Are you seriously telling me that giving a nanny a scrappy $20 or $30 a week doesn't favor the employer.
If you had a car payment plus insurance you would still have to put at 60 or more in gas per month..
SO car payment + insurance + gas
Compare to gas mileage = nanny is being taken for a ride
