Right? The legal pay and the parents home during the day are two legitmate reasons to leave a job that don't involve badmouthing your employers or their kids. If I were interviewing you, and you said something negative about the family you work for, that would be a bad sign, but if you said something negative about the kids, you would immediately be dropped from consideration. That's incredibly unprofessional.

OP, it sounds like you are working a job where the parents are at home. These jobs are more challenging most of the time because when the parents are home, they usually are micromanaging you, the nanny which is the most irritating thing ever. It can drive one mad. Also, the kids know that Mom and Dad are there and they act so much different...Not in the good way either.

After a week, this job isn't going to work out. I would just tell your bosses that this was a "trial"week, which all nanny jobs should have anyway since chemistry is so important. Make sure you have your money before you quit. Don't worry about giving them a month's notice..If they are paying you off the books, they don't have a case in court.

Let them know you won't be coming back again and leave it at that. If you want to, give a flimsy excuse why. Or if you feel uncomfortable, you can quit via text or e-mail. Normally this all is unprofessional, but considering how bad this job sounds, you need to get rid of this toxic situation ASAP. Good riddance.

Don't worry about having to tell prospective employers about them.
It's only a week.
