I am a nanny who thinks it's fine to post what she did. That opens the doors slightly for those of us who behave professionally.

Her failure to show up or cancel or at least apologize after the fact speak volumes about her as a nanny.

Sure. As long as you stick to the facts, you are helping parents.

Yes, she can delete her profile and start over, but parents can remember her and could well recognize her unprofessionalism.

MB here. Yes, please write a review. I've had my time wasted by a few nannies like this. My guess is that they lack the maturity to say they're not interested, so they just schedule an interview and then willfully blow it off.

However, before you write a negative review, be sure to call or text her after she missed the appointment and give her a couple of days in which to respond. Say in your message that you're calling to see what happened and to reschedule. That way, you won't be dinging her if she simply forgot or had an emergency but is otherwise responsive and responsible. And keep the review factual. Don't use inflammatory terms like "flaky," "irresponsible," "self-centered," or "unreliable." Anyone reading your review can draw those conclusions for themselves.

This is so true.

This is what nannies always do.

So it would be fruitless for you to leave a bad comment.

She will just delete her profile, wait a little, then start over and make a new profile on there.

Easy peasy.

Does she have several reviews? If so, a short factual comment from you might not be a big deal, and some people might find it helpful. But if she has zero or very few reviews, you might destroy her opportunities--and she could be a great person who doesn't deserve that.

Think of it this way...when I'm reading reviews for a product, I want to hear from people who actually used it and liked or disliked it. The people who complain that it got lost in the mail annoy the crap out of me...and they unfairly bring down the overall rating of the product.

I think that the difference here, is that "the product" not showing up, really does ultimately say something about the "product" and its effectiveness. This nanny is unprofessional and I doubt that it is the only aspect in which she behaves this way. OP doesn't know why she didnt show up, but she did attempt to find out. The nanny should have called to cancel, or at the minimum responded to OPs inquiries when things slowed down. The only excuse for this, to me, is if something happened to the nanny herself.

It's all up to you OP. I mean it is a personal choice, but I wouldn't waste my time. Just let it go...You dodged a bullet.

What I would use the reviews section for is for a nanny that actually WORKED for me.

I think that is what parents are most concerned about.

Sure, a nanny being a no-show at an interview isn't great, but ultimately it makes it easier in their search because they can just check her off their list immediately. No big deal.

But if they hire a nanny and she turns out to be a bad nanny, then I think a parent has a duty to inform other parents on the site not to hire her, thus putting other children in danger.

No, she's just going to create a new profile.
