From the first day on the job, you have to be prepared to say goodbye at any time. Families and lives are ever changing. That being said, there is a wonderful website www.nannytransitions.com that supports nannies as they prepare themselves, the family, and of course the children for a change in this most unique relationship. Good luck!

Thank you to all the wonderful and loving nannies out there, including OP! We are lucky to have you.

If we read carefully, we can see how are discussion has evolved to the general concept of children having to say good-bye to their beloved nannies.
OP is indeed quite rare to have been allowed to nurture the same child for four years. Most families (and nannies) are lucky to complete a whole year with one family.

how our, not how are

Do you people really think it's good for a young child to have so many severed attatchments?

Oh for god's sake. Your endless rants on this issue are absurd, especially when you're hijacking a thread where your soapbox is a non-sequitur.

+1000. I'm starting to think she does this to troll, because I have a hard time believing anyone can remain this nuts on an issue she has been discredited on over...and over.....and over again.

Hmm well the kid is 4 and has had the same nanny his whole life. Likely he is going to preschool in his new state. So pretty much what every other person, even SAHMs do with their kids. I'd say 1 severed attachment (ie nanny to probably preschool) is not going to cause any damage since EVERY kid goes through this. Whether with daycare, nanny, family member, or parent. That's part of life. Kids grow up and certain people come and go in their lives. This isn't a kid who has had 10 different nannies in 4 years.

Your argument is getting REALLY old.

Sounds like a very angry "no" answer.
