Why are you saying you work for a wonderful family when they want you to risk your life? You might lose your job, but you've got to say no. Be safe and stay home.

I'm very relieved. I really didn't want a reason to be unhappy in my job. I'm glad they value my safety.

Good to hear.

When you aren't used to weather like this it can be easy to underestimate how bad things can get.

Wow they're assholes. I definitely would NOT go in but it's obvious they are NOT going to pay you. Big red flag. Cheapstakes!

Big difference between snow in Chicago and snow in Atlanta.
Time to take off your bitch panties.

Yeah. You're right, we get 4 times as much.

Did you just come on here to be an asshole?
If the only thing you have to offer this discussion is snipe and nastiness, get the hell out.

You sound like a moron.

Isn't that the reason anyone comes on here anymore?

So I came in. Carefully. She's back in bed asleep, as her offices are closed today. I told her I needed to pick up my own ds by noon and needed to leave at 11 (his daycare is closing early). She was like ok, but you need to come back to work after and I told her no. I'm pretty sure it's the kiss of death for this job but right now I'm so pissed at her even suggesting that I come back that I don't care if she fires me.

I don't tend to be snarky but in this instance I would inform her that I have my own child who will need care since his preschool is closing early. I can't believe how many parents expect nannies to come in when their offices are closed! Its like - if Your boss thinks its too dangerous for You to be driving then why would you make Me drive?

And you're prepared to deal with it. How well would you all handle a hurricane, earthquake or huge tornado? I'm guessing not well since you don't get them, don't have the infrastructure to handle them, or the necessary emergency response procedures in place. If you can't see the difference between a snowstorm in Atlanta vs. Chicago, you really ought to shut your stupid mouth.
