If my new employers, lovely as they are, write me a card I will throw it out without looking at it.

Keep your fricking cards. Please do not do anything for me for Valentines Day

You repeatedly post your bitterness towards your former nanny employer and distrust of all future employers. I hope you are exhibiting this hostility in your interviews. Frankly, you need to find another line of work.

$$$$ Stop being cheap. We don't need candies or flowers. We are here to get paid, and that is the best way to show appreciation.

I’m a nanny and wouldn’t want a Valentine’s Day gift from my NF. I wouldn’t get my NF or charges a gift because it’s a holiday between romantic partners.

At most, I’d appreciate being let off early if the holiday falls on a work day.

In my country (France), only couples do give something to each other, if they want to.

Why do you quote like this, Dude? It’s weird and identifiable.

My charges(two twin boys) every year give me handmade cards, and chocolates. I think its very sweet!!! They "sign" the cards like... "to the woman of my life" or something like that- just for fun
The family and I have very close, and friendly relationship.

Another vote for a small flowering plant and card.

I have always given our nanny flowers and a card stating our love and appreciation for her.

I usually do a small potted plant for Valentine's Day, with one of those balloons on a stick in it. Really just a gesture. Might be too awkward for bus/Metro, though.
