That plus a Target gift card and a framed photo of the kids. Also as a side note, I'm a dietitian and I know that the professional publications I subscribe to sell single-article downloads for more than the entire price of this subscription. I wouldn't worry about the price too much if you compare it with professional publications instead of regular magazines like what you would see at Safeway.
That's like buying women appliances or cleaning supplies. Unless they ask for it, just don't.
Nonsense. A professional journal subscription is a very appropriate gift in the context of a professional relationship.

Anonymous wrote:I refuse to subscribe to the magazine for a few reasons. The people involved in the magazine are immature and it was obvious at nannypalooza that they have no idea what they are doing. $39 for 6 magazines is outrageous and why even consider buying the online edition when they keep posting their articles on their Facebook page for free. No thanks. I'm sure whoever started this thread is somehow involved in the magazine.

Ummmmm clearly this is not accurate.
This is actually quite accurate.
The magazine industry makes tons of money on magazines. First, they have their advertisers who they make money off of. Second, they have their subscribers who they make money off of as well. Lastly, they make money off of those that choose to purchase their issues at the checkout counters. Have you ever noticed the magazines you actually purchase in-store are of much higher quality than the ones you get as a subscriber? The ones you buy in the store are larger, more shinier and do not rip as easy.
Look at all the junk mail catalogs we all get in our mailboxes everyday for free. This just shows how darn cheap it really is to print all of these.
And that is exactly what magazines do.
They just make money off it. From advertising to readers.

Actually they are probably going to lose money in their first year. Printing costs are very high and I'm sure they won't have a large enough subscriber base to lure in advertising revenue. Do you seriously think it costs what you pay for a subscription in order to get that subscription to your door every week? Simple math.
