This is the only way to make it work for most children.

It can work but the problem is you really don't know until after you take the job and have been there some time. For that reason I probably wouldn't accept another job with the parent in the home and just look for one where the parents are out of the house most of the time.

I don't like it, but I don't mind it.

Most nannies have had negative experiences with this and will not do it again, unless there's some significant perk or pay rate.

Currently I am working with WAHM ,this is the first time I took a job like this. MB is very nice and it's working but I don't think I will ever accept any job like this in future. I just feel uncomfortable knowing MB is home and knows every move I make etc. Even though MB is very nice some time I feel I need my space.

I've worked for WAH parents twice, and the circumstances of both were important and made each experience completely different.

First time: WAH mom in the typical WAH job. Little office on the first floor, on her computer joining occassional conference calls. She would come see the kids frequently causing issues, come when she heard any crying, and not tell them to leave if they burst into her office (even if she was on a call!) It was hell and I quit after 7 or 8 months.

Second time: WAH dad but only at home because they had a production studio in the house and 10 other employees working there 9-5. I think the fact that is was downstairs, a real obvious job with obvious work being done, other employees, and a fair amount of discipline from dad that I never had to ask the kids to not disturb dad, we never saw him before the end of the day unless he was leaving the house for a meeting or something, the kids were used to knowing dad was nearby but not accessable. The job was and is amazing and I am still with the family years later even though the home office has moved out to a bigger space to support more employees.

So it depends on the circumstances. But the typical thought of a WAH parent in an office popping in and out is a no go for me.

Older kids it could be fine. Younger kids there's no way. You'll learn this for yourself in due time.

I've been doing it for 3 years and it's been great! I never get off late and by the nature of HMs job , I am given a ton of flexibility. My charges have no problem with transitions. HM can float in and out and there has never been an issue.

When I'm on, I'm tbe boss and she reinforces it with the kids. They will sometimes try to circumvent me and HM refuses to say yes or no. She always says "ask the boss".
