Trying to get employers to put a review on care (when they hired me through a different source) is almost impossible. So, when I responded to an ad, conducted a basic inquiry and was given a 1 star review because I had the temerity to "interview her and be uppity!", it destroyed what had been a decent source of babysitting gigs. Like a PP, I spoke to a customer service rep (after I jumped through hoops to get the number!), and basically I was told that since families pay, they can post a review anytime they want, and as nannies and sitters don't pay (or don't pay as much), well, we're welcome to post a rebuttal.

right, that's why 100s of Fortune 500 companies offer direct payment to Care.com for temp care for their full-time employees when their primary childcare falls through.

That is absolutely ridiculous!
The background checks on Care.com are flimsy and these people who are offering their babysitting services are all just your average Jane.

Are you sure you weren't drunk when you wrote this too?

was about to ask her the same question

I honestly wouldn't let it bother me.

Care.com is a scam.

ANYone and EVERYone with a computer w/Internet can just go in, create a free profile and label themselves a "professional" Nanny/Caregiver/Babysitter, etc. and say they have 40+ years or so of experience.

Parents think this website is similar to an agency (big misconception) and think $40 is a great deal vs. paying hundreds to an actual agency.

The CEO "Sheila" something should be punished for false advertising along with fraud.

You can find these same childcare providers on Craigslist for F-R-E-E.

I too was kicked off care.com and did not do any of these things. Too bad they don't vet their sitters as adamantly as they review employers. I have met only two viable people on the site who have been reliable, not cancelled on me last minute and shown maturity. I hear urbansitter is the bomb especially in big cities like NY, DC and LA.
